Covey has made waves on both music streaming services and social media. The UK indie rock band has a new record out called “Class of Cardinal Sin,” and every character on its figurine-covered cover has its own personality and backstory. Blaze Radio station manager Gannon Hanevold interviewed Covey backstage at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, Arizona on November 6, before the band opened for Summer Salt and Breakup Shoes. Hanevold asked about the elaborate storyline behind the new record, horror movie recommendations and what its like performing the band’s cathartic single “Sam Jam,” a musical middle finger to the man who once poured hot coffee on lead singer Tom’s teenage sister.
